Harding Cruises Past Arkansas-Monticello, 75-52

MONTICELLO, Ark. — Josh Denton scored 20 points and Harding cruised past Arkansas-Monticello 75-52 on Thursday night.

Denton made 5 of 11 shots from 3-point range and added six rebounds and three assists for the Bisons (18-9, 14-7 Great American Conference). Keyln McBride had 11 points and four assists, while Sam Smith contributed 14 points and six rebounds.

Devin Davis led the Boll Weevils (4-23, 1-20) with 23 points, making 9 of 14 shots from the field. Seth Grandberry added 12 points and six rebounds.

Harding took control early, outscoring UAM 35-22 in the first half. The Bisons then extended their lead in the second half, outscoring the Boll Weevils 40-30.

The win marked Harding's eighth road victory of the season, the most by a Bison team since winning eight in 2015-16. It was also a milestone night for two Harding players, as Stetson Smithson became the 40th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points in the first half, and Keyln McBride became the 41st player to achieve the feat in the second half.

Harding's defense was stifling in the first half, holding UAM to 22 points, tied for the fewest points allowed by the Bisons in a half this season. The Bisons forced eight turnovers in the first half and outscored UAM 10-2 off turnovers.

Denton led the charge in the first half, scoring 12 points, and Harding made six 3-pointers in the half. The Bisons also dominated the boards, outscoring UAM 15-3 on second-chance points and 30-8 on bench points.

Harding will conclude its regular season on Saturday, hosting Henderson State at 7:30 p.m. at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House before continuing the season at the GAC Tournament next week.
