Olatunde, Malykhin Sweep GAC Track and Field Weekly Honors

SEARCY — Harding's Olaolu Olatunde and Vlad Malykhin have been named the Great American Conference men's track and field athletes of the week.

Olatunde, a freshman from Ikeja, Nigeria, earned track athlete honors after posting NCAA provisional times in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the Pittsburg State Invitational. His time of 21.53 seconds in the 200 ranks 29th nationally and is the fastest in the GAC.

Malykhin, a junior from Shostka, Ukraine, was named field athlete of the week after winning the pole vault at the Pittsburg State Invitational with a clearance of 5.48 meters. The mark is the best in Division II this season and beat the closest competitor by 0.40 meters. Malykhin is a two-time NCAA Indoor national champion in the pole vault.
