Lacey, Martinez Lead Harding to Lopsided Win Over McKendree

SEARCY — Harding baseball cruised to a 14-2 victory over McKendree on Friday, improving to 4-1 on the season.
The Bisons jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning on a single by Sebastian Martinez. Logan Lacey added to the lead in the third inning, homering to left field and driving in Nathan Bowie, who had singled and stolen second.
Harding blew the game open in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs on four hits and two McKendree errors. Nathan Bowie and Logan Lacey each drove in two runs in the inning, and Sebastian Martinez added a two-run double.
McKendree scored its only runs of the game in the fifth inning, on a triple by Harrison Toone and a groundout by Gavin Noreus.
Maddox Long (2-0) earned the win, allowing one run on seven hits in five innings. He struck out eight and walked one.
Trey Cole (0-1) took the loss for McKendree (0-1), surrendering 11 runs on eight hits in four innings.
The game, originally scheduled for nine innings, was shortened to seven innings due to the NCAA's 10-run rule.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow in a doubleheader, starting at noon.
