Harding Men's Golf Sits Eighth After First Day of Firekeeper Open

MAYETTA, Kan. – 21st-ranked Harding men's golf sits eighth of 19 teams after the first of two days at the Firekeeper Open, hosted by Washburn at Firekeeper Golf Course.

The Bisons shot 11-over 299 in the first round and were 4 over in the second round and 15 over overall when play was suspended due to darkness. Four of Harding's five players have one or two holes to play when the second round concludes Tuesday. The third round will follow.

The lone Bison to finish both rounds was Jose Manuel Peralta. The 29th-ranked player in Division II is in fourth place at 3-under 141. He is 5 strokes back of leader Blake Saffell of Washburn. Peralta leads the tournament with 11 birdies.

Harding's Dennis Staykov is tied for 28th at 4 over with one hole to play. Jose Arzu and Christian Lindgreen are both 7 over and tied for 50th, and Finlay Cummings is 96th at 15 over.

Unranked Concordia-St. Paul leads the team event at 3-under.
