Harding Falls to 8-7 to Central Missouri in 12 Innings at Central Regional

WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Central Missouri outlasted Harding 8-7 in 12 innings Thursday at the NCAA Division II Central Regional. Chase Wilcox's RBI single in the bottom of the 12th gave the Mules the win.

The game got off to a strong start for the Bisons (39-18), who took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Chance Resetich's two-run double to left center gave Harding the advantage. The Mules (39-11) responded in the bottom half with a Dayvin Johnson solo home run to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Harding added to its lead in the second inning on a Nathan Bowie RBI single, and again in the third inning on a Resetich two-run double. It was Resetich's first two-double game of the season and his three RBIs tied a season high.

Harding then went six innings without a hit until Kade Smith's single to right in the ninth.

The game was tied 5-5 entering the 10th, when Harrison Griffith launched his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot to left center that gave Harding a 7-5 lead. A two-run single from Central Missouri re-tied the game in the bottom of the inning.

The Jennies' offense was led by Dayvin Johnson, who hit two home runs and drove in two runs. Jacob Steele also homered and drove in three runs for Central Missouri. For Harding, Chase Resetich doubled twice and drove in three runs.

Harding's Maddox Long pitched a strong season-best nine innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts. Kyle Lane relieved Long in the 10th and took the loss. Central Missouri's Jake Wilson earned the win in relief, improving to 5-1.

Harding will play the loser of Central Oklahoma and Arkansas Tech on Friday at 2 p.m.
