Solorzano Named MIAA/GAC South Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following a dominant stretch of play against some of the nation's top competition, Harding senior Adrian Solorzano has been named the MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis South Division Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

The honor, presented by ClassicCourt, marks the third time this season a Bison has received the divisional award. Solorzano joins teammates David Campbell (Week 1) and Sebastian De Las Salas (Week 5) as 2026 recipients.

A Milestone Week

Solorzano, a native of Morelia, Mexico, was instrumental in Harding's success over the last seven days. Currently ranked No. 68 nationally in singles and No. 3 in doubles alongside partner Cian Mikkelsen, Solorzano finished the week with a perfect 3-0 record at No. 1 singles.

His week was highlighted by a signature straight-set victory over Mark Neyelov of No. 1 West Florida, followed by a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win against No. 13 Mississippi College. He capped off the road trip by surrendering just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 rout of Delta State.

In doubles action, Solorzano and Mikkelsen continued to cement their status as one of the elite pairings in Division II. The duo went 2-1 on the week, including a 6-2 win over Delta State and a narrow 7-6 tiebreaker loss to the nation's top-ranked pair from West Florida.

Bisons in the Rankings

The conference honor coincides with Harding's rise in the ITA National Rankings. The Bisons moved up to No. 40 in the team poll this week, while the program made history by placing three separate doubles teams in the national Top 50.

Around the League

In the North Division, Northwest Missouri's Bernardo Henriques took home Athlete of the Week honors after leading the Bearcats to a 2-1 record, including an upset win over No. 44 Drury.
