TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its updated NCAA Division II national rankings Wednesday, with the Harding men's tennis team moving up one spot to No. 40 in the country.
The climb comes as the Bisons (10-6) solidified their standing as one of the premier programs in the Central Region, bolstered by a record-breaking presence in the individual national rankings.
Historic Presence in Doubles
For the first time in program history, Harding boasts three different doubles tandems ranked in the Top 50 nationally.
Leading the charge is the senior duo of Adrian Solorzano and Cian Mikkelsen, who maintained their No. 3 national ranking. Solorzano and Mikkelsen hold a 15-4 overall record and have become one of the highest-ranked doubles pairs in the history of Harding tennis.
They are joined in the rankings by:
-
No. 30 – Sebastian De Las Salas and Edoardo D'Arrigo: The duo moved up into the Top 30 with a 6-4 record against one of the nation's toughest schedules.
-
No. 44 – Florian Gayme and Jan Alexander Has: The pair made their season debut in the national rankings following a perfect 3-0 stretch during the Bisons' recent road trip to Florida and Mississippi.
Solorzano Leads Singles Rankings
In addition to his doubles success, Adrian Solorzano continues to represent the Bisons on the singles leaderboard. The senior moved up to No. 68 in the nation following a 3-0 week at the No. 1 singles position, which included a signature win over the top flight from No. 1 West Florida. Solorzano currently holds an 11-6 record in singles play this season.
Conference Outlook
Harding remains the highest-ranked team in the GAC/MIAA South Division. The Bisons currently sit at 2-0 in conference play and are positioned as the primary challengers to North Division leader Washburn (No. 8) for the overall conference crown.
