Solorzano Named ITA Central Region Senior Player of the Year

SEARCY, Ark. — Harding senior Adrian Solorzano has been named the 2026 ITA Central Region Senior Player of the Year, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday. He is the first Harding men's tennis player to receive the honor.

The award, which honors a senior student-athlete for their exceptional performance and leadership on and off the court, comes amidst the most successful season in the history of the Harding men's tennis program.

Solorzano, a native of Morelia, Mexico, has served as the anchor for the No. 35-ranked Bisons, competing exclusively at the No. 1 flight in both singles and doubles. He currently boasts a 16-7 overall singles record, including a dominant 10-2 mark at the top position in dual match play.

A First Team All-MIAA selection, Solorzano went a perfect 4-0 in conference play and recorded several marquee victories over nationally-ranked opponents. His season was highlighted by a straight-sets victory over Mark Neyelov of top-ranked West Florida and a recent 6-1, 7-6 win over Nebraska-Kearney's Ivan Melnik to help secure Harding's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory on Monday.

In doubles, Solorzano has reached elite heights alongside partner Cian Mikkelsen. The duo currently holds the No. 3 national ranking with a 19-7 overall record. They most recently avenged a postseason loss by defeating the nation's No. 7-ranked pair from Nebraska-Kearney to help the Bisons sweep the Central Region 2 Final.

Throughout his two-year career in Searcy, Solorzano has compiled a 35-16 record in singles and a 36-16 mark in doubles. His leadership was a primary factor in Harding reaching the MIAA Tournament finals for the first time and earning the right to host an NCAA Regional.

Solorzano is now a finalist for the ITA National Senior Player of the Year award, which will be announced during the NCAA Division II National Championships in Surprise, Arizona.

Harding (17-7) will continue its season at the national site on May 20, with opponent and match times to be determined by the NCAA selection committee.
