Men's Tennis

Solorzano, Mikkelsen Conclude Season No. 2 Nationally; Earn All-America

SEARCY, Ark. — Following the most historic postseason run in program history, the Harding men's tennis team and its individual stars cemented their place among the nation's elite in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II national and regional rankings.

The Bisons finished the 2026 season ranked No. 29 nationally, marking the second consecutive year the program has secured a spot in the final top 30. The finish trails only the 2025 squad's No. 21 ranking for the highest final national placement in school history. Regionally, Harding stands at No. 2 in the Central Region—the highest final regional ranking for the program since the university entered the NCAA Division II era in the 1997-98 season.

Doubles Reach Unprecedented Heights; Solorzano and Mikkelsen Named All-Americans

Leading the charge on the national stage was the top-flight doubles tandem of senior Adrian Solorzano and Cian Mikkelsen. The duo finished the year ranked No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the Central Region.

By virtue of finishing the season ranked in the top 10 nationally, Solorzano and Mikkelsen officially earned ITA Doubles All-America honors. They become the eighth doubles team in Harding's NCAA era to achieve All-American status, joining an elite lineage that includes:

  • Sendra/Salvan (29th in 2018; 25th in 2019)

  • Bellan/Ortiz (30th in 2022)

  • Salvan/De Lorenzo (43rd in 2022)

  • Mikkelsen/de Ruiter (12th in 2023)

  • de Ruiter/Zlatar (3rd in 2024)

  • de Ruiter/Solorzano (11th in 2025)

This No. 2 placement marks the highest final national ranking ever achieved by a Harding doubles pair, eclipsing the previous school record of No. 3 set by Cas de Ruiter and Teodor Zlatar in 2024. Solorzano and Mikkelsen also became just the third duo in the school's NCAA history to capture the Central Region's top spot. Together, the senior pair compiled a 20-7 overall record (11-6 at No. 1), capping their careers as one of only three pairs in the NCAA era to cross the 20-win threshold in a single season.

They were not alone in the national rankings, however. The No. 2 pairing of Florian Gayme and Jan Alexander Has finished the year ranked No. 27 nationally and No. 6 in the Central Region. Gayme and Has also hit the exclusive 20-win milestone, going 20-10 overall with a blistering 15-7 mark at the No. 2 spot. This season marks only the second time in program history that Harding has concluded a year with two nationally ranked doubles teams.

Solorzano Anchors Trio of Ranked Singles Stars

In singles play, Solorzano put the finishing touches on a legendary career by ranking No. 67 nationally and No. 2 in the Central Region.

By appearing in the national poll, he became just the fourth Bison to be nationally ranked in singles in consecutive seasons (finishing 23rd in 2025). Furthermore, his No. 2 regional ranking is the highest by a Harding player in the NCAA era, besting Mathaus Spiering's No. 3 ranking in 2014. Solorzano turned in a 16-7 overall record, including a dominant 10-2 mark at No. 1 singles, a perfect 4-0 run in conference play, and a 3-1 record against nationally ranked opponents. He closed the year on a five-match winning streak.

Joining Solorzano in the regional singles rankings were teammates Sebastian De Las Salas and Mikkelsen.

De Las Salas finished the season ranked No. 13 in the Central Region after posting a 15-7 record split across the top two singles lines. Mikkelsen checked in at No. 17 in the region, anchoring the No. 3 spot with a 16-8 overall record, a flawless 5-0 conference resume, and a seven-match winning streak to close the year. The inclusion of Solorzano, De Las Salas, and Mikkelsen marks only the second time in Harding's NCAA era that the program has had three singles players cross the finish line ranked in the Central Region.

The final rankings put a stamp on a definitive, record-breaking 17-8 season for head coach Craig Kirchgessner's Bisons, highlighted by the program's first-ever NCAA Round of 16 appearance in Surprise, Arizona.
