SEARCY — The Harding University baseball team has been honored with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025-26 academic year, the organization announced Wednesday.

Presented by Sports Attack, the award recognizes college and high school programs that maintained a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2025-26 academic year.

Harding stands as one of the most consistent academic programs in the nation, earning the distinction of being one of only five Division II schools to receive the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award in all 11 years of its existence. The Bisons capped off their 2025-26 campaign by recording a 3.47 team GPA, marking the highest mark in program history.

The monumental academic year extended Harding's streak to 30 consecutive semesters with a team GPA of 3.00 or higher. An impressive 83% of the Bisons' roster maintained a 3.00 GPA or better, with 60% of the squad achieving a 3.50 GPA or higher. Additionally, one-third (33%) of the entire team finished the year with a perfect 4.00 GPA.

The Bisons were among 91 Division II programs nationally to be recognized this year, as well as one of just four schools from the Great American Conference (GAC) to achieve the milestone.

To qualify for the award, a program must be led by an active ABCA member head coach and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative team GPA through the conclusion of the spring semester.

More than 800 high school and college programs nationwide were recognized this year, including over 500 collegiate teams across all divisions.
