Bison Soccer Falls to West Florida Comeback

PENSACOLA, Fla. - West Florida scored two goals less than six minutes apart in the second half and came from behind to defeat Harding 2-1 in Gulf South Conference men's soccer action Sunday.

After a weather delay of almost two hours, Harding and West Florida played to a scoreless first half. In the 58th minute, Harding freshman Josh Ireland collected a loose ball in front of the West Florida net and scored his first collegiate goal.

Harding (3-11-0, 0-2-0) held the lead for just over 17 minutes until West Florida's Stephen Munoz volleyed in a deflection off a shot to tie the game at 1-1. It was Munoz's fifth goal of the season.

In the 79th minute, Paul Willoughby's fourth goal of the season proved to be the game-winner. Willoughby needed only one touch after a cross from Bruno Ferreria to net West Florida's second goal.

West Florida (6-4-1, 2-0-0) has won all seven meetings between the two teams and outshot Harding 16-9.

Harding will be back in action Friday night when it hosts Delta State in Searcy.
