NEW YORK - Harding University senior defensive back
Josh Jones became only the fifth Bison in program history to earn All-America honors from the Associated Press when he was named to the AP Little All-America First Team on Thursday.
Jones, a native of Carson, Calif., was Harding's leader with 94 tackles and eight interceptions. He has also earned All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association and Daktronics.
Harding's previous honorees on the AP Little All-America Team were defensive end
Paul Simmons (1994), defensive back Tank Daniels (2005), defensive back Robert Towns (2006) and quarterback David Knighton (2007). Simmons and Knighton were both named to the First Team, and Daniels and Towns were on the Second Team.
Other Gulf South Conference players on the AP Little All-America First Team included wide receiver Frantz Simeon (Arkansas Tech), linebacker Montrell Craft (North Alabama) and linebacker Cedrick Thornton (Southern Arkansas).
