HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Harding men's basketball team suffered a cold shooting effort and dropped the first game of a three-game road trip 65-56 to Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday at Huntsville High School. The Bisons' trip continues Monday at North Alabama and Tuesday at Louisiana-Monroe.

Alabama-Huntsville (7-3) scored the game's first seven points and led 12-2 with 13:27 left in the first half. The Chargers extended their lead to a game-high 12 points at 16-4 on a pair of free throws by
Jaime Smith with 11:38 left in the half.

Harding (6-3), which fell to 2-2 on the road, got as close as five points in the first half and trailed 29-22 at halftime. The Bisons made just 8-of-27 shots (29.6 percent) before the break, including
2-of-10 from three-point range.

Harding's long-range shooting deserted the squad completely in the second half, as the Bisons missed all nine three-point attempts. Entering the game, the trio of Matt Garner, Sam Brown and Trent Morgan
had combined to make 42 of Harding's 52 three-pointers on the season but missed all 13 of their attempts on Saturday. The Bisons were outstanding inside the arc in the second half, hitting 11-of-13
attempts.

Early in the second half, Harding went on a 6-0 run that ended with two Kevin Brown free throws that tied the game at 30-all with 17:03 remaining. UAH then scored the next six points and led by at least
four for the rest of the game.

Kevin Brown shot 4-of-8 from the field and made 5-of-8 free throws to lead the Bisons with 13 points. Junior Matt Ragsdale had 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Cody Jones, Alabama-Huntsville's leading scorer entering the game, led the Chargers again with 22 points, hitting 7-of-13 field goals and 8-of-12 free throws. Josh Magette added 10 points.

Stephen Blake and Bradley Spencer made Harding's only two three-pointers, a season-low. The previous low for the year was five on three occasions.

Alabama-Huntsville made 41.5 percent of its shots overall and 4-of-16 three-pointers (25 percent).

This season in Harding's six victories, the Bisons are shooting 45.2 percent (42-of-93) from three-point range. In its three losses, Harding is shooting 12-of-59 (20.3 percent).

North Alabama, Harding's opponent on Monday, fell 89-76 to Arkansas Tech on Friday.
