Box Score SEARCY – Lambuth sophomore midfielder Daniel Ericsson collected a failed clearance at the top of the 18-yard box and scored his fifth goal of the season in the third minute of overtime to give the Eagles a 2-1 over Harding on Sunday in non-conference men's soccer action at the HU Soccer Field.
The victory was the sixth straight for Lambuth (6-3-2) after starting the season 0-3-2 in its first five games. Harding (1-8-0) remained winless in four home games this season.
The Bisons, who have scored just one goal in their previous four games, took a 1-0 lead Sunday just under five minutes into the second half. Freshman Carlos Barrientos corralled a loose ball more than 30 yards from the goal, turned and scored his first goal of the season.
Harding held the lead for nearly 30 minutes until Lambuth senior Preston Wright tied the game on his first goal. The assist came from Ericsson.
Lambuth had the only other potential scoring chance as sophomore Juan Garzon got loose down the right side late in the game. Harding goalkeeper Will Reno, who had five saves in the game, made his best stop, a kick save, on Garzon's attempt.
The overtime game-winner for Lambuth came following a Harding foul near midfield. The ensuing free kick landed in the Harding box, but the clearance only made it as far as the edge of the 18-yard box, where Ericsson's low shot to the far post gave Lambuth the victory.
Lambuth held a 17-11 shot advantage and had six corner kicks to Harding's three.
It was the last of three consecutive home games for the Bisons, who travel to Conway, Ark., on Tuesday to meet Hendrix College in the first-ever matchup between the two schools.
