ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State starting pitcher Anthony Gilliland, making only his third start of the season, pitched a complete game shutout to lead the Reddies to a 6-0 victory over Harding on Sunday in Gulf South Conference action at Clyde Berry Field.

Harding (20-22, 5-9) had only nine hits in the three-game series and did not score any runs. The Bisons are now one game behind both Henderson State (22-15, 6-8) and Ouachita Baptist for fourth place in the GSC West Division. The top four teams from each division advance to the GSC Tournament in May.

Harding got a strong outing from senior Troy Keith (2-3), who went six innings and allowed only two earned runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out five.

Gilliard (2-1) gave up only four hits, all singles, and only allowed two Harding runners to reach third base.

Henderson State took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Reddies scored a run on a wild pitch and another on a John Waylock RBI double.

In the sixth, Robert Gilbert reached on what proved to be a very costly error to lead off the inning. Three batters later, Keith should have been out of the inning, but the Reddies staged a two-out rally, plating four unearned runs.

Harding's hits came from Clay West, Chase Presley, Erin McCarver and Charles Bradley.

The Bisons are back in action Tuesday in Walnut Ridge, Ark., for a doubleheader against Williams Baptist.
