MONTICELLO, Ark. – Harding pounded out 20 hits for the second time in its three-game series with Arkansas-Monticello and defeated the Boll Weevils 18-8 in the finale. The Bisons set a new school record by scoring 50 runs in the series, breaking the record of 45 set earlier this season against Christian Brothers.

Harding improved to 23-23 overall and 7-10 in the Gulf South Conference West Division. Henderson State defeated Christian Brothers 10-3 in Memphis to move to within one game of clinching the fourth and final GSC Tournament spot from the West Division. For Harding to surpass Henderson State, the Bisons need to sweep Arkansas Tech next week in Searcy and have Henderson State lose all three games at home against Arkansas-Monticello.

Each of the first six hitters in Harding's lineup had two hits or more Sunday. The Bisons trailed 2-1 after three innings but scored nine runs in the top of the fourth. It was the third time this season Harding has scored nine runs in an inning. The Bisons sent 14 batters to the plate in the inning, had eight hits and took advantage of two Boll Weevil errors.

Junior Jason Nappi was 2-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI. He finished the series 10-for-16 with nine runs scored and 10 RBI.

Harding had a season-high 23 hits in the first game of the series, a 23-14 victory in the second-highest scoring game in program history.

Clay West, Chase Presley, Erin McCarver and Anthony Guglielmi each had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two. One of Guglielmi's hits was his school-record breaking 19th double of the season.

Harding starter Lucas Waddell (5-1), a freshman from Ladner, British Columbia, picked up his team-leading fifth win of the season. He struck out five and did not allow a walk in five innings pitched. Jacob Giles pitched three scoreless innings of relief, and Daniel Niehls pitched a scoreless ninth.

Drew Harper and Matt Lewis each had three hits for Arkansas-Monticello (20-23, 4-13).
