SEARCY – Palm Beach Atlantic scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of the game and defeated the Harding men's soccer team 2-0 in the season opener for both teams.
Sailfish midfielder Chris Karafilov collected a loose ball in the Bison end in the 82nd minute and lofted a shot from 25 yards out over Harding goalkeeper Will Reno for the first goal. Just under seven minutes later forward Kyle Crouse got behind the Harding defense after a pass from Tumi Magdalela and scored the second goal.
Palm Beach Atlantic outshot Harding 21-8, and the Sailfish had 10 corner kicks to Harding's one.
Reno made several point-blank saves and finished with eight stops overall. Jonathan Strunk had three saves for the Sailfish in the shutout.
Harding will have a 10-day break before playing Sept. 14 at Williams Baptist.
