HU Men's Soccer Finally Opens Conference Play

Ryan Wilhelm and the Bisons take on Alabama-Huntsville on Friday.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – After opening the season with 11 straight non-conference games, Harding men's soccer finally plays its first Gulf South Conference game Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Alabama-Huntsville. This will be Harding's final season in the GSC in men's soccer.

GAME NOTES

* Harding enters the game 3-7-1 overall and have lost five straight. The Bisons opened the season with eight goals in their first six games, but have scored only one in their last five.

* The Bisons are 1-4-0 on the road this season, but their last win, a 3-2 victory over Delta State on Sept. 16, came on the road.

* Harding will have senior Connor Galloway back for the Bisons. Galloway missed the first nine games of the season with an injury, returned for the Lindenwood game, but picked up a red card in the game and missed Harding's last game against Central Baptist.

* Harding is coached by Jeremy Bishop, who is in his first season as the Bisons' head coach. Mike Mitchell , a 1989 graduate of Georgia State, is in his second season as head coach at UAH. He has a 9-16-0 record.

* Alabama-Huntsville enters the game 5-3-0 overall and is also playing its first conference game. The Chargers have won three of their last four.

* UAH has scored 24 goals in its eight games and yielded 13. Kyle Simmons, a freshman forward from Huntsville, Ala., has scored a team-leading eight goals.

* This will be the 12th meeting between Harding and Alabama-Huntsville. UAH leads the series 7-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in Huntsville. Harding's last victory over UAH was a 4-0 win in 2008 in Huntsville.
