SEARCY – Former Harding wide receiver Kurt Adams was featured recently in a blog on NFL.com that said Adams' recent performance at the Arkansas State pro day “should get him a free-agent contract.”
Twelve NFL teams were in attendance for Adams' workout at Arkansas State on March 18.
Adams stood 6-foot-4 3/8-inches, and 197 pounds. He ran 4.52 and 4.55 in the 40-yard dash, had a 33.6-inch vertical jump, 9-5 broad jump, 4.52 short, 7.02 3-cone drill, and did 13 reps (of 225 pounds) on the bench press.
The article about Adams appeared on the blog of Gil Brandt, vice president of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys from 1960-89. According the NFL.com website, Brandt “has spent the last eight years as NFL.com's main personnel guru and offers insight and commentary on all aspects of players and teams.”
Brandt stated that Adams “was not a guy who was listed any place but his performance should get him a free-agent contract.”
Adams, a native of Searcy, Ark., had 141 career receptions for 2,311 yards and a school-record 29 touchdown receptions. He was a two-time All-Gulf South Conference performer.
The NFL Draft is April 28-30 in New York. In most years, free agent contracts can be offered to undrafted players in the days following the draft. But due to the current labor situation in the NFL, teams would not be allowed to offer players free-agent contracts until the lockout ended.
