MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Harding women's tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches Wednesday with road victories over LeMoyne-Owen and Christian Brothers. All six of the victories have been shutouts.
Harding (15-5) defeated LeMoyne-Owen 6-0 before downing Christian Brothers in a Gulf South Conference match 9-0.
LeMoyne-Owen had only five eligible players and forfeited at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
In the two remaining doubles matches, Harding's top team of Janet Orgain and Karye Saegert won 8-2, and the No. 2 team of Gabrielle Rowden and Emily Sansom won 8-0. Orgain and Saegert won their eighth straight match as a team. Rowden and Sansom improved to 3-0.
In singles action, Orgain remained perfect at 8-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1, and Fabiola Wisnesky-Michelli won her second straight with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
Christian Brothers also had only five eligible players and defaulted two matches.
Wisnesky-Michelli teamed with Callie Huey to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-2. It was the third straight victory for the duo. Orgain and Saegert won at No. 2 and have a perfect 9-0 record as a doubles team this season.
Harding breezed through the singles matches without losing a set. Huey improved to 8-5 with her third straight singles win, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1. Orgain improved to 8-0 in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2. Rowden moved to 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3. Lindsey Brumfield won her second straight match 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, and Sansom improved to 4-0 with an 8-2 victory at No. 5.
The Lady Bisons are back in action Friday with a GSC match against Ouachita Baptist in Searcy at 2 p.m.
