Harding Women's Tennis Competes at GAC Individual Championships

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Harding women's tennis team wrapped up its opening event of the 2026-27 fall season Friday, competing in the Great American Conference Individual Championships hosted by Ouachita Baptist University at the Ward Tennis Center.

Sophomore Rebecca Boldireva provided the highlight of the two-day tournament for the Lady Bisons, storming all the way to the championship match of the Green Flight in singles play.

Singles Action

  • Flight 1 (Purple): Brooke Coffman opened her tournament with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ouachita Baptist's Anastasia Myachina in the quarterfinals before falling in the semifinals to No. 2 seed Elis Gergel of Arkansas Tech. Aline Aveiro also represented Harding in the top draw, dropping a tight 6-4, 6-4 decision to Gergel in the quarterfinals.

  • Flight 2 (Blue): Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz battled into the semifinals with a 2-6, 6-2, [10-8] tiebreaker win over Ouachita's Jennifer Pfaefflin before falling to Southern Arkansas' Kaera Fukai. Maika Wendt bounced back from a quarterfinal setback to earn a 6-3, 3-6, [10-7] victory over Karli Gay (OBU) in the consolation semifinals.

  • Flight 3 (Red): Kate Higgs advanced to the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Arkansas Tech's Nayara Alvarez before being forced to retire due to injury. Mia Hosking rebounded from an opening-round loss to defeat Alvarez 4-6, 6-4, [10-8] in the consolation semifinals.

  • Flight 4 (Green): Boldireva turned in a stellar tournament run, defeating Radvile Survilaite 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before knocking off top-seeded Mariangel Pernia of Arkansas Tech 2-6, 7-6 (4), [10-4] in the semifinals. She finished as the Green Flight runner-up after falling to Southern Arkansas' Arianna Garcia in the final. Kenna Kelley picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over teammate Lauren Hall in the consolation quarterfinals.

Doubles Competition

In top-flight doubles action, the tandem of Maika Wendt and Brooke Coffman advanced to the Purple Flight semifinals. The pair earned a quarterfinal victory over Ouachita's Karli Gay and Anastasia Myachina via injury default before falling to Southeastern Oklahoma State's Daniela Garcia and Daniela Vivas Valencia.

In the Blue Flight, the pairs of Lauren Hall/Rebecca Boldireva, Mia Hosking/Paula Rega, and Kenna Kelley/Kate Higgs all saw quarterfinal action.

Up Next

Harding will return home to host the Harding Invitational in Searcy on Oct. 16-17 at the David Elliott Tennis Complex.
