SEARCY – Former Harding University football players Eddie Russ and Jordan Watson were both among the final players to be released by their respective Canadian Football League teams Saturday.
Russ, a defensive back from Cottondale, Fla., was released by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Watson, a wide receiver from Pensacola, Fla., was the last player released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Both players are exploring other options in professional football.
Russ played in both of the Roughriders' preseason games and recorded one tackle and one interception. Watson had two receptions for 17 yards in his two preseason games with the Tiger-Cats.
