FLORENCE, Ala. – The Harding football squad will take on 2nd-ranked North Alabama on Saturday at Braly Municipal Stadium. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

GAME NOTES

* Saturday's game will be the second of five straight non-conference games for Harding.

* Harding leads NCAA Division II in rushing offense (409.33), total defense (148.00) and first downs allowed per game (11.33).

* Harding is 8-22 against nationally-ranked opponents since joining the NCAA in 1997. The Bisons have won their last three games against nationally-ranked teams, including a 29-28 victory over 15th-ranked North Alabama last season. Harding's last road win over a nationally-ranked team was a 38-35 victory at 12th-ranked Delta State last season.

* North Alabama leads the all-time series 6-5 overall and 3-2 in Florence.

* Last season, Harding won 29-28 as Bison senior Jordan Watson caught the game-winning 22-yard touchdown pass from Josh Powell with 45 seconds remaining in the game.

* Harding leads Division II with 409.33 rushing yards per game, 7.18 yards per rush and 15 rushing touchdowns. The Bisons allow only 55.3 rushing yards per game, 1.6 yards per rush and one rushing touchdown.

* Senior fullback Kale Gelles leads the Great American Conference and ranks eighth in Division II with 129.00 rushing yards per game.

* Harding has 17 rushes this season of 20 yards or more, with those rushes coming from 13 different players.

* Gelles has 1,638 career rushing yards, ranking 11th on Harding's career rushing chart. He needs just 52 yards to move past Darrell Biggers (1988-91) into the top 10.

* Harding's defense has scored five touchdowns this season, returning three interceptions and two fumbles for touchdowns. The only other time Harding has scored five defensive touchdowns was in 1996, when the Bisons returned five interceptions for touchdowns.

* Harding enters the game ranked first in Division II in total defense, allowing only 148.00 yards per game. The Bisons set a school record by allowing only 15 yards to Shepherd Tech.

* Harding's leading tackler is junior linebacker Aaron Gillaspie with 17. He is tied for 22nd in the GAC with 5.7 tackles per game.

* Harding senior kicker Eddy Carmona is a perfect 20-of-20 on extra points and 2-of-2 on field goals. He connected on a career-long 52-yard field goal against Shepherd Tech.

* Harding's leading special teams player is junior James Feher, who leads the team with five special teams tackles, all on kickoff returns.

* Harding has had 16 different players score touchdowns this season.

* Harding has outscored its opponents 52-0 in the first quarter this season.
