SEARCY – Harding's inability to clear the ball out of their defensive zone cost them twice Thursday night as the Bisons fell 2-0 to Lyon College in men's action at the Harding Soccer Field.

Lyon improved to 4-4-0 with the victory, while Harding fell to 3-5-1.

Rain began to fall early in the game, and after 20 minutes, game officials called the teams off the field for a lightning delay of about 45 minutes. When play resumed, Lyon controlled much of the possession and took the lead 20 minutes after the delay.

Lyon junior forward Raoul Noumbissi collected a loose ball at the top of the 18-yard box after Harding failed to clear a corner kick and fired a shot inside the far post in the 41st minute to give the Scots a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, a free kick proved costly to the Bisons. The free kick bounced off two Harding players on the top of the box before Lyon junior defender Andy Walker gained control. His shot deflected off a Bison defender and past Harding goalkeeper Zach Auala in the 61st minute.

Lyon outshot Harding 20-10 and had a 14-5 advantage in the first half. The Bisons were shutout for the third consecutive game and for the first time at home this season.

Harding is at home again Sunday when it hosts Lindenwood University of Missouri at 1 p.m.
