SEARCY – Harding completely controlled the rebounding battle, and junior Bradley Spencer scored 18 points to lead the Bisons to a 78-62 victory over Great American Conference leaders Henderson State in front of an overflow crowd Saturday at Rhodes Field House.

Harding (10-8, 5-3) won for the third time in its last four games thanks in large part to a 56-34 rebound advantage. It tied the most rebounds in a game this season by the Bisons.

Henderson State (11-7, 6-2) had its four-game winning streak snapped and lost its sixth straight against Harding. The Reddies are tied with Arkansas Tech for the lead in the GAC, with Harding a game behind.

Spencer led the Bisons in scoring for the second straight game, hitting 5-of-11 from the field, including two 3-pointers, and all six of his free throw attempts. Sophomore Zach Roddenberry had 14 points and 14 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season and second straight. He also had four of Harding's seven blocked shots.

The game was tied seven times in the first half and was knotted at 33-33 when Roddenberry grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a layup as time expired to put Harding ahead.

The Bisons scored the first seven points of the second half on a pair of free throws by Hayden Johnson, another Roddenberry layup, and a Weston Jameson 3-pointer. Henderson State trimmed the lead to five on two occasions but got no closer.

Reddie junior Andrew Ensley had 14 points and nine rebounds before fouling out. Senior KaJuan Watson had 11 points and senior Josh French added 10.

Johnson hit both of his 3-point attempts and finished with 12 points, and Jameson made three 3-pointers and scored 10 points. Senior Andrew Silverman had eight points and a career-high 10 rebounds.

Harding is off for a week before its next action. The Bisons next action is Saturday, Feb. 4 at Southern Arkansas in Magnolia.
