Harding Baseball Splits Doubleheader with SOSU.

DURANT, Okla. – Harding baseball split a doubleheader Saturday against Great American Conference leader Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Bisons won the opener 6-5 in 10 innings and dropped game two 9-3.

Harding moved to 24-20 overall and 7-13 in the GAC. The Bisons are still in eighth place with only the top six teams making the conference tournament. Harding has four games remaining in GAC play, beginning with the series finale against SOSU on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Southeastern Oklahoma State is now 30-13 and leads the conference with a 14-6 record.

Harding junior Lucas Waddell (6-3) pitched nine innings in the opener and collected his 21st career win, only one behind the Bison school record of 22 set by Matt Walter (2000-03). Cameron Walker pitched a scoreless 10th inning for his first save of the season.

Harding senior Anthony Guglielmi drove in the winning run with a single in the 10th off SOSU reliever Cameron Mann (7-1). It was only the fifth earned run allowed by Mann this season in 45 2/3 innings pitched.

Harding senior Chase Presley was 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBI. He had a double and his third home run of the season. Sophomore Matt Calhoun also had three hits, including his 14th double.

Harding managed only five hits and one earned run off SOSU starter Brandon Marris (9-3) in game two. The Bisons scored all three of their runs in the first inning, with Calhoun and Jeremy Bohnett picking up RBI singles. Bohnett was 2-for-2 in game two and was the only Bison with multiple hits.

Southeastern Oklahoma scored five runs in the fifth inning to erase a 3-2 deficit. Harding starter Hayden Shirley (3-5) did not make it out of the fifth. He went 4 1/3 and gave up five earned runs on five hits.

SOSU hit three home runs in the game, one each from Brad Shankle, Keith Price and Justin Klusak. Harding had allowed only nine home runs all season prior to Saturday's games.
