Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SEARCY – Southwestern Oklahoma State pitchers Calyn Young and Cole Stephens both threw complete game shutouts as the Bulldogs eliminated Harding from postseason contention with 9-0 and 6-0 victories Saturday at Jerry Moore Field.

The two teams conclude the series Sunday at 1 p.m. Harding will honor its four seniors—Jacob Giles, Anthony Guglielmi, Chase Presley, and Alex Smith—prior to the game.

Harding (24-24, 7-16) came into the series needing a sweep to remain alive for the sixth seed in the Great American Conference Tournament, but the Bisons had no answer for Young and Stephens.

The victory in game one assured Southwestern Oklahoma (26-17, 13-10) of a berth in the conference tournament.

In the opener, Young (4-2) allowed only four hits, all singles. He did not walk any and struck out four.

The Bulldogs managed an unearned run off Harding starter Lucas Waddell (6-4) in the first inning. But an error with two outs in the sixth led to a five-run inning for Southwestern Oklahoma. Only one of the runs was earned for Waddell, who lasted 5 2/3 innings and gave up five hits. With 21 career wins, he remains one behind the school record of 22 held by Matt Walters (2000-03).

Harding had five hits in game two, but tied a school record by grounding into four double plays in the first five innings.

Stephens (6-2) walked one and struck out four.

Southwestern Oklahoma scored three runs in the second inning to pull out to a 4-0 lead. Harding starter Hayden Shirley (3-6) then held them scoreless until the fifth when he came out with the bases loaded. One runner scored on reliever Bronson Smith's wild pitch. Shirley yielded five earned runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Presley was 2-for-3 for the Bisons in game two. He has 214 career hits, only five behind Justin Cone's school record of 219.
