ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding baseball will look to battle its way back into the hunt for the Great American Conference Tournament on the road Friday and Saturday against Ouachita Baptist.
The three-game series begins with a noon doubleheader Friday and concludes with a single game at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Harding (19-14, 4-8) won two out of three games in its first GAC series this season against Arkansas-Monticello, but has not won another conference series since. The Bisons are in eighth place in the conference standings with only six teams making the tournament.
The Bisons are ninth in the conference with a .256 batting average but continue to lead the GAC with a 3.44 ERA. Juniors
Lucas Waddell (6th, 2.32) and
Hayden Shirley (7th, 2.50) rank among the leaders in the conference in ERA and will be in the rotation this weekend.
Ouachita Baptist (18-17, 6-6) is currently fifth in the conference. The Tigers have the seventh-best batting average in the GAC (.275) and also rank seventh in ERA (5.19).
OBU has two of the top hitters in the conference in sophomores McCrae Jones and Keegan Ghidotti. Jones is fourth in the GAC with a .374 average. He has 11 doubles and 22 RBI. Ghidotti is eighth at .368 with 32 runs scored and 24 RBI.
