SEARCY – Harding baseball returns to action Tuesday with a doubleheader against former Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers. The Bisons and Bucs will square off at 2 p.m. at Jerry Moore Field for two 7-inning games.
Harding is coming off a Great American Conference series victory at Ouachita Baptist over the weekend. The Bisons took two of three games from the Tigers and improved to 21-15 overall and 6-9 in conference play.
Christian Brothers is also coming off a conference series victory but did not play last weekend. The Bucs won two of three against New Orleans in Memphis on Mar. 31-Apr. 1 before losing 8-1 to cross-town rival Rhodes on Wednesday to fall to 9-23 overall. Christian Brothers is 3-12 in the Gulf South Conference.
The probable starter for the Bisons in game one is junior right-hander
Ryan Modglin, who is 2-2 with a 4.94 ERA. Modglin started and lost last Tuesday in a non-conference game against Southern Arkansas and allowed five runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. Modglin, who also serves as Harding's designated hitter on occasion, had five RBI in three games in the Ouachita Baptist series.
Senior right-hander
Alex Smith will likely start game two. A native of Angleton, Texas, Smith is 0-1 with a 4.82 ERA. It will be his fourth start of the season, and his first since starting March 6 at North Alabama. His last three appearances have all been in relief.
Both games of Tuesday's doubleheader will air live on HardingSports.com and live stats will also be available.
