HU Men's Basketball Faces Road Test at Ouachita Baptist

Harding Game Notes

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – After winning all nine of its games in the month of January, the Harding men's basketball team has dropped its first three in February. The Bisons will look to end that skid and remain atop the Great American Conference standings Saturday in Arkadelphia as Harding takes on Ouachita Baptist for a 4 p.m. tipoff at Vining Arena.

Harding (17-6, 10-5) suffered its closest loss of the season Thursday, falling 70-68 to Henderson State at Rhodes Field House, ending the Bisons' 12-game home winning streak. Harding, who is tied with Arkansas Tech for first place in the GAC, trailed by nine points at halftime but fought back and held a 63-62 lead with 2:49 left. Henderson State connected on a 3-pointer on its next trip, and Harding never regained the lead.

Harding junior Hayden Johnson had his second-best scoring effort in a conference game this season with a team-leading 18 points. Senior Zach Roddenberry made 6-of-8 shots and scored 17, and freshman Tony Cochran made three 3-pointers and had 11.

Ouachita Baptist (12-9, 8-7) also suffered a two-point loss, 52-50, Thursday against Arkansas Tech in Russellville. It was the Tigers' lowest-scoring output of the season. Michael Morris led Ouachita Baptist with 10 points, but Austin Mitchell, the team's leading scorer this season, was held scoreless on only two attempts.

Harding defeated Ouachita Baptist 83-78 in the first meeting of the season between the teams. Bradley Spencer led the Bisons with 19 points in the Jan. 12 matchup in Searcy. Mitchell was outstanding for the Tigers that night, making six 3-pointers and leading Ouachita Baptist with 22 points.

Saturday's game will air live on KVHU-95.3 FM in Searcy with live stats and live audio available on HardingSports.com. Following the Ouachita Baptist game, Harding returns to the Rhodes Field House on Thursday, Feb. 21 against Southern Arkansas.
