Box Score

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Baptist scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday to defeat the Harding baseball team 7-6 in non-conference action at Rab Rogers Field.

Harding (5-1) suffered its first loss of the season in its first road game. The Bisons will begin Great American Conference play Friday at home against Southern Nazarene.

With the game tied at 6-6, sophomore Nick Ford (0-1) came on as Harding's sixth pitcher of the game. Keegan Ghidotti walked to lead off the inning, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored the game-winning run when Ford's next pitch eluded catcher Erin McCarver.

Harding led 6-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, but a Bison error, the team's fifth of the game, led to three unearned runs. The last came on Ghidotti's solo home run that tied the game.

Harding scored three runs in the top of the fourth that gave the Bisons a 5-1 lead. Bohnett had an RBI single and came around to score on a balk. Erin McCarver also scored on a balk in the inning.

Freshman Collin Campbell made his first collegiate start on the mound for the Bisons, went 3.0 innings, and allowed only two hits and one earned run while striking out three.

Harding had nine hits with Bohnett, Billy Ninemire and Trent Wooldridge recording two each. Bohnett scored twice, but Harding had only three RBI since three runs scored on balks.

The Bisons' five errors led to five unearned runs. Ouachita Baptist (6-5-1) also stole seven bases.

Ouachita Baptist reliever Ben Gielow (1-0) earned the win, pitching the final four innings and allowing only two hits and one unearned run.
