HU Baseball Hosts Union in Tuesday Doubleheader

SEARCY – Harding baseball will host Union on Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Jerry Moore Field.

Harding (15-10) could reach a program milestone in the game. The Bisons are only one win away from reaching 1,000 wins in program history.

Harding is coming off a three-game Great American Conference series against Arkansas-Monticello. The Bisons won the opener but lost the next two. Despite the losses, Harding is 13-4 at home this season.

Bison head coach Dr. Patrick McGaha plans to use several pitchers in the doubleheader. Harding will start freshman Collin Campbell (2-0, 4.10 ERA) in game one, but has not settled on a starter for game two.

Union (6-16) lost its first 10 games in March, but has won three of its last four. Two of the Bulldogs' victories this season came at nationally-ranked GAC squad Southern Arkansas.

Union has a very respectable 4.15 team ERA, but is hitting only .231 and averaging only 3.6 runs per game.

The Bulldogs top hitter is sophomore Jim Martin, who is hitting .342 and leading the team with nine extra-base hits and 15 RBI.

Harding and Union have not meet in baseball since 1992. The Bulldogs won three of four games against the Bisons that season.
