SEARCY – Harding baseball will square off with Henderson State in a non-conference game Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Jerry Moore Field in Searcy.
Harding (23-16) won the three-game Great American Conference series against Henderson State (21-17) two games to one in Arkadelphia on Friday and Saturday. The Bisons took the opener 11-0 on a complete-game, three-hit shutout by junior Cameron Walker. It was the first career shutout for Walker, who set a career-high with 11 strikeouts. Junior Erin McCarver hit a grand slam in the first inning to give the Bisons an early lead.
Harding won game two, 2-1, with junior Trent Wooldridge driving in the eventual game-winning run with a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth. Senior Lucas Waddell pitched eight innings and allowed no earned runs or walks and struck out two to earn the win. Sophomore Josh Spears pitched the ninth to earn the save.
Henderson State won the final game of the series 14-4.
Harding, who is 17-7 at home this season, will likely start freshman Collin Campbell in Tuesday's game. A right-hander from McCroy, Ark., Campbell is 2-1 with a 6.47 ERA. He will be making his eighth start.
The Bisons hottest hitter entering the game is senior Billy Ninemire, who has a 10-game hitting streak. During the streak, he is hitting .361 (13-for-36). Senior Jeremy Bohnett has reached base in 13 straight games, the longest streak by a Harding player this season.
