Harding
With one weekend remaining in the MIAA men's soccer season, Harding is one of three team competing for the final two berths in the conference tournament. The Bisons are currently in fifth place with 13 points (4 wins, 1 tie), trailing both Lindenwood (16 points) and Upper Iowa (15 points), who fortunately for Harding are its two final opponents of the weekend.
Harding will clinch the fourth tournament spot with two wins. If the Bisons qualify for the MIAA Tournament, it would be Harding's first conference tournament since qualifying for the 2011 Gulf South Conference Tournament.
The Bisons are playing their best soccer of the season and have wins in their last two games. Harding defeated Southwest Baptist 4-1 last Thursday and followed that with a 2-0 victory over Southern Nazarene on Saturday.
The six goals in two games came after a stretch where Harding scored only twice in seven games.
The senior duo of Jacob Stevens (6 goals) and Cole Walker (4 goals) have scored 10 of Harding's 20 goals this season. Six players have two assists each.
Lindenwood
Lindenwood enter the game in third place in the MIAA with 16 points. The Lions will clinch a tournament berth with a win over Harding on Thursday or a win at Southern Nazarene on Saturday.
Despite its winning record, Lindenwood has been outscored 32-20 this season, including 19-10 in the second half.
Lindenwood also has two players that have for accounted for half the team's goals. Andre Hayne (6 goals) and Mitchell Hunt (4 goals) lead the Lion attack. Alfredo Paez has scored three goals this season and all three have been game-winners.
The Series
Harding and Lindenwood tied 1-1 in their first meeting this season in Searcy. Hayne scored in the 32nd minute to give Lindenwood the lead, but Harding answered with a goal from Stevens in the 74th minute.
Lindenwood leads the series 3-0-1. The Lions won the only meeting in St. Charles, 2-1, in 2012. Each of Lindenwood's three wins in the series were by one-goal margins.
