MONTICELLO, Ark. – Arkansas-Monticello swept Harding 13-3 and 4-0 in a Great American Conference doubleheader played Friday at Weevil Field. The teams will conclude the three-game series Saturday at 10 a.m. in an effort to finish before forecasted rain arrives.
Arkansas-Monticello (20-10, 10-7) scored in four of the six innings they came to bat in the opener and pulled away with six runs in the sixth. Austin Braddock was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI and hit two home runs. Ben Agredano was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Harding (16-11, 8-6) scored all three of its runs in the third inning. Erin McCarver, who was 2-for-3, had a two-run double and scored on Matt Calhoun's RBI single. Davis Richardson, Harding's designated hitter, went 2-for-3.
Logan Johnson (4-2) pitched a complete game for the Boll Weevils. He allowed seven hits and three runs with five strikeouts. Harding starter Cameron Walker (2-2) took the loss after yielding eight runs (six earned) over five innings.
UAM's Kade Garlington (6-2) allowed only four hits in 6 1/3 innings in earning the win in game two.
Harding's four hits came from McCarver, Calhoun, Victor Guerra, and Harrison Hunter.
Arkansas-Monticello scored once in the second, twice in the third and one more in the sixth. The Boll Weevils had eight hits, with Chad Miller going 2-for-3.
Harding starter Collin Campbell (4-1) lost for the first time. He gave up four earned runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Senior Logan Holthaus is slated to start Saturday's game for the Bisons.
