SEARCY - Harding sophomore Collin Campbell pitched a seven-inning shutout in game two of a Great American Conference doubleheader to give the Bisons a split Saturday at Jerry Moore Field. Henderson State won the opener 8-3, but Harding responded with a 7-0 victory in game two.

Harding (23-17, 14-10) dropped two of three games in the series but remained in fourth place in the GAC. The top six teams advance to the GAC Tournament in Enid, Okla., on May 3-6. Henderson State (17-23, 11-13) remains two games out of the sixth spot.

Campbell (7-1) pitched his second shutout of the season, allowing only five hits and no walks. He struck out three and needed only 67 pitches for the complete game. Campbell has won his last three decisions, all in GAC games. His other shutout came against Southeastern Oklahoma on March 1.

Harding scored a run in the first on James Anderson's RBI single. Davis Richardson led off the fourth with his second home run of the season, and Harding made it 3-0 on Trent Wooldridge's sacrifice fly that scored Victor Guerra, who followed Richardson's home run with a walk.

The Bisons blew the game open with four more runs in the sixth. Guerra hit a two-run double, Harrison Hunter had a sacrifice fly, and John Chapman singled home Guerra.

Harding went 6-for-13 in the game with runners on base.

Matt Calhoun was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, and Wooldridge and Anderson had two hits each.

Henderson State starter Dylan Howell (1-4) lasted only three innings and allowed five hits and three earned runs and walked three.

The Reddies used a six-run third inning that was aided by three Harding errors to pull away from the Bisons in game one. Harding starter Logan Holthaus (4-2) allowed eight runs in 3 1-3 innings, but only one was an earned run.

Harding had 11 hits in the game. Noah Chandler was 3-for-4 with a run scored, and Calhoun went 2-for-5 with one RBI.

Jon Luthe (3-5) started and went five innings for Henderson State. He allowed one run on four hits. Steven Brooks pitched the last four innings and picked up his first save.

Harding will be back in action Wednesday with a non-conference home game against Arkansas-Monticello at 3 p.m.
