Wooldridge's Perfect Day Leads Harding Baseball to Doubleheader Sweep

Trent Wooldrige went 8-for-8 in Saturday's doubleheader and 14-for-17 for the week.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Harding senior Trent Wooldridge set a Great American Conference record with six hits and continued his perfect day by going 2-for-2 in game two of the Bisons' doubleheader sweep of Ouachita Baptist in GAC action Saturday. The Bisons won the opener 10-7, and sophomore Collin Campbell pitched his second straight shutout in a 10-0 victory in game two.

Harding (26-18, 16-11) remained in fourth place in the GAC standings, only one-half game behind Southern Arkansas. The Bisons close out regular season play with a three-game home conference series next weekend against GAC leader Arkansas Tech.

Ouachita Baptist (21-16, 13-14) dropped to seventh in the conference standings, one game out of the sixth and final GAC Tournament spot.

In the opener, Harding had 17 hits total and scored in each of the first five innings. The Bisons' five-run third inning gave them a 7-0 lead. Victor Guerra had a two-run double, and Wooldridge had a two-run single.

Ouachita Baptist scored two in the third  to cut Harding's lead to 7-2, but the Bisons added a run in the fourth and Wooldridge singled and scored in the fifth. Wooldridge had his fifth hit of the game and scored in the seventh to give the Bisons a 10-3 lead.

Ouachita Baptist mounted a comeback with four runs in the bottom of the seventh before sophomore Andrew Fiddler came in and retired the side.

Senior Logan Holthaus (5-2) went 6+ innings and struck out four in the win. Fiddler pitched three innings to collect his second save.

Wooldridge broke the hits record in the ninth, leading off the inning with his fifth single of the game.

Luis de Jesus (6-5) suffered the loss. He allowed seven earned runs on nine hits over 2 2-3 innings.

Game two started, not surprisingly, with a single by Wooldridge. He scored the first of four runs for the Bisons in the inning and Harding was off an running. The Bisons had five hits in the inning, including a two-run single by Matt Calhoun.

Wooldridge led off the second inning with a single. It was his ninth consecutive hit going to back to Friday's first game in the series.

Harding put the game away with a five-run third inning. Ouachita Baptist finally got Wooldridge out, but his sacrifice fly scored Harding's third run of the inning. Wooldridge had another sacrifice fly to score Harding's final run in the seventh.

Campbell (8-1) won his fourth straight decision and ran his scoreless innings streak to 14 with his third shutout of the season. He allowed only five hits, four singles and a double.

Ouachita Baptist starter Tryce Schalchlin (3-2) did not fare as well. He retired only one of the seven batters he faced and gave up four earned runs

Harding had 13 hits in the game and had five different hitters with two each.
