Harding Women's Tennis Falls 5-4 to Arkansas Tech in Central Regional

Senior Benyapa Phumtip won at No. 3 singles in her final match as a Lady Bison.

BOLIVAR, Mo. - Harding dropped all three doubles matches, rallied to win four singles matches, but ultimately lost 5-4 to Arkansas Tech at the NCAA II Central Region Tournament. Arkansas Tech advances to meet host Southwest Baptist on Tuesday in the regional final.

The loss snapped Harding's 13-match winning streak, but the Lady Bisons ended the season 18-6 overall. Harding was the regular season and tournament champions of the Great American Conference.

Piper Huey won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for her 21st singles victory of the season. She is the first Harding player since Karina Gomes in 2007 to win 21 singles matches in a season.

Benyapa Phumtip won 6-2, 6-3 and completed her four-year Harding career with 53 singles victories, tied for 17th on the Lady Bisons' career list.

Lauren Doversola won in three sets at No. 4, her team-leading seventh three-set victory of the season.

Arielle Butler won two tie-breakers for a 7-6, 7-6 victory at No. 5 and finished her season on a nine-match winning streak.
