Box Score ENID, Okla. – Harding's late comeback fell one run short and the Bisons fell 4-3 to Southern Arkansas on Tuesday at the Great American Conference Tournament.
Harding (28-24) finished third in the tournament for the second straight season. Southern Arkansas (37-17) advanced to meet Arkansas-Monticello in the championship game.
Trailing 4-0, Harding plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh with Trent Wooldridge singling in Harrison Hunter and Matt Calhoun driving in John Chapman with a sacrifice fly.
Chapman led off the ninth with a walk and scored on another Calhoun sacrifice fly to pull the Bisons within one, but Harding could not score the tying run from third with two outs.
The Bisons stranded 11 runners in the game.
Senior Bronson Smith (1-2) made his second start of the season and went 6 1-3 innings. He allowed five hits and three earned runs and struck out three. Andrew Fiddler gave up one run over the final 2 2-3 innings and struck out five.
Dylan Lynn (10-1) got the win for Southern Arkansas, pitching 6 1-3 innings.
Wooldridge and James Anderson each had two hits to lead the Bisons, and Noah Chandler had his 15th double. Calhoun had a single in the eighth and tied Ben James' (1999) school record by reaching base in 29 straight games.
