Harding Football Places 13 on All-Great American Conference Teams

SEARCY – Harding football had three players receive first-team All-Great American Conference honors Tuesday, as the conference released its post-season awards. Six Bisons earned second-team honors and four more received honorable mention.

Junior offensive lineman Eric Mitchell, junior defensive end Trevon Biglow and junior quarterback Park Parish received first-team honors, Parish as an offensive utility player.

Mitchell (Harrison, Ark.) started Harding's first seven games at left tackle before missing the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Biglow (Oklahoma City, Okla.) played in nine games with eight starts at defensive end. He had 32 tackles and led Harding with 9.5 sacks.

Parish (Clinton, Ark.) started all 11 games at quarterback and led the team in rushing with 864 yards. He also set a Harding record with 19 rushing touchdowns, scoring at least one in each of Harding's first 10 games.

Harding's six second-team honorees included sophomore slot back Zach Shelley (Marlin, Texas), junior fullback Michael Latu (San Mateo, Calif.), redshirt freshman center Bryce Bray (Rogers, Ark.), junior defensive tackle Cordell Zalenski (Durant, Okla.), junior inside linebacker Daylan Skidmore (Houston, Texas), and junior outside linebacker Scott Middleton (Jasper, Texas).

Shelley started all 11 games and rushed for 713 yards, averaging 10.0 yards per carry. Latu was second on the team with 803 rushing yards and scored 11 touchdowns, and Bray started nine of Harding's 11 games at center.

Zalenski started six games and recorded 26 tackles and 5.0 tackles for loss. Skidmore led the team with 82 tackles, and Middleton had a team-high 13.0 tackles for loss.

Sophomore wide receiver Andrew Dather (Conway, Ark.), senior offensive lineman Cole Lockwood (Cabot, Ark.), senior safety DeAndre Baines (Tacoma, Wash.) and sophomore special-teams player Christian Witt (Nixa, Mo.) each earned honorable mention.

Dather led Harding with 14 receptions and 424 receiving yards, Lockwood was Harding's starting right guard, Baines led the team with three interceptions and nine pass breakups, and Witt led Harding's special teams with eight tackles on kickoff returns.

Offensive Player of the Year went to Henderson State running back JaQuan Cole. Logan Genz of Arkansas Tech was the Defensive Player of the Year. Southern Arkansas quarterback Barrett Renner was the Freshman of the Year, and Southwestern Oklahoma's Dan Cocannouer was Coach of the Year.
