Harding Notes
The No. 36 Harding women's tennis team takes on its toughest test of the season Thursday, as the Lady Bisons take on Delta State in a neutral-site matchup in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Harding enters the match 3-0 overall and has won all three matches by 9-0 scores. The Lady Bisons' latest victory was a shutout of Hendrix on Saturday in Conway, Arkansas.
Delta State had won 15 straight meetings between the two teams until Harding won 9-0 last season in Arkadelphia on Feb. 22.
Harding has two players entering the match riding four-match singles winning streaks. Both sophomore Arielle Butler and freshman Brittany Smyser have won their last four. Smyser has not dropped a set in any of those last four contests.
Harding's No. 1 doubles team of Ali Bishop and Piper Huey have combined to win five straight matches. The duo is 7-2 this season and 3-0 in dual matches, winning 24 of the last 26 games played.
Delta State Notes
Delta State enters the match 1-0 overall and is coming off an 8-1 home victory over Stillman on Feb. 7. The Lady Statesmen won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles.
Sophomore Sophia Luisa Niemeyer earned 2nd Team All-Gulf South Conference honors last season. She played No. 4 singles in Delta State's first match.
Delta State is located in Cleveland, Mississippi, and is a member of the Gulf South Conference.
