HU Women's Tennis Plays Drury and Nebraska-Kearney in Weekend Matches

Harding Notes

Harding women's tennis, ranked No. 7 in the ITA Central Region Rankings, will take on nationally-ranked Drury (No. 20) and Nebraska-Kearney at the Cooper Tennis Center in Springfield, Missouri.

Harding enters the weekend with a 4-0 record and is coming off a 6-3 victory over Delta State on Feb. 12.

The Lady Bisons are 22-2 in singles in dual matches this season and 11-1 in doubles.

Harding's probable singles lineup with overall record and dual match record in parenthesis: No. 1 Piper Huey (7-3, 3-0), No. 2 Ali Bishop (5-3, 3-0), No. 3 Katie Huff (2-2, 1-1), No. 4 Arielle Butler (4-3, 3-1), No. 5 Brittany Smyser (6-1, 4-0), No. 6 Emily Faulkner (3-2, 3-0).

Harding's probable doubles lineup: No. 1 Huey/Bishop (8-2, 4-0), No. 2 Huff/Butler (1-1, 1-1), No. 3 Smyser/Faulkner (2-0, 2-0).

Drury Notes

Drury, a member of the NCAA II Great Lakes Valley Conference, enters the weekend 5-0 overall and ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division II. The Panthers, ranked No. 1 in the ITA Midwest Region, defeated Oklahoma Baptist 9-0 in their last match on Feb. 22.

Drury's Hadeil Ali is ranked No. 49 in NCAA II in singles and is 4-1 this season. Ali is ranked No. 5 in the Midwest region in singles, and Natalia Kozel is No. 6. Drury's doubles team of Monsch and Muller are No. 4 in the region, and the team of Kozel and Zambrano are No. 8.

Drury is 28-2 in dual singles matches and 14-1 in dual doubles matches.

Nebraska-Kearney Notes

Nebraska-Kearney, a member of the NCAA II Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, is ranked No. 6 in the ITA Central Region. The Lopers enter the weekend 7-0 and are coming off a 7-2 victory over William Jewell on Feb. 13.

Kristen Weems is ranked No. 13 in the Central Region in singles and is 3-3 at No. 1 singles this season.

The Lopers are 36-6 in dual singles matches and 20-1 in dual doubles matches.

Series

Harding and Drury are playing for the ninth time. The series began in 1995 with a 9-0 Harding victory. The Lady Bisons won three straight before the Panthers won two 5-4 victories in 2000. Harding won 9-0 in 2001 and 5-1 in 2002. The teams did not play again until 2014 with No. 25 Drury winning 8-1.

Harding and Nebraska-Kearney are meeting for just the third time. Harding won 9-0 in the first meeting in 2000 and won 6-3 last season in Searcy.
