SEARCY – Former Harding defensive back Darious Lane has signed a professional contract with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League and is currently in training camp with the team.
Lane, a resident of Miami, started all 11 games for Harding as a senior in 2014. He had 34 tackles, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles.
The Lions signed Lane after an impressive showing at the team's Seattle free agent camp in May, and he is listed on the team's training camp depth chart as the third-team nickel back.
The Lions play their first preseason game Friday at Calgary and their second at home against Edmonton on Friday, June 19. A key date for Lane will be June 20, when the team has to cut down to 46 players plus a 10-player practice roster.
