RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league's Players of the Week for the sixth week of the men's soccer season. Harding's Barry Foster captured the Offensive award, Oklahoma Baptist's David Estrada garnered the Defender accolade and the Bison's Thomas Ackerneckt earned his third straight Goalkeeper honor.
GAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Barry Foster, Harding, Sr., F, Euless, Texas
Foster registered the second two-goal game of his career as he scored both goals in a shutout win against Southwest Baptist. Both of his multi-goal games have come against the Bearcats.. He now has seven goals in six games against Southwest Baptist, including three game-winning goals.
GAC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – David Estrada, Oklahoma Baptist, Jr., D, Cancun, Mexico
Estrade picked up his second GAC Defender of the Week award of the season as he helped lead a defense in a 1-0 victory against Johnson & Wales. He played all 90 minutes in the win. He anchored a back line that allowed just 10 shots all match, including six shots on target.
GAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Thomas Ackernecht, Oklahoma Baptist, Jr., Antofagasta, Chile
Ackernecht continued his stellar play in net for the Bison as he made five saves in a 1-0 victory against Johnson & Wales for his fourth shutout of the season. He extended his scoreless streak to 272:10. He improved to 4-1 and he lowered his goals-against average to 0.80.
