Medjo, Andelkovic Lead Harding Men's Basketball Over Oklahoma Baptist

Box Score SHAWNEE, Okla. – Sophomore Filip Medjo scored a season-high 23 points and Harding used a late first half run to defeat Oklahoma Baptist 83-74 on Saturday in Great American Conference play at the Noble Complex.

Harding improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference games and won for the first time in three games in Shawnee. Harding is tied with four other teams for second place in the conference standings. Oklahoma Baptist lost for the second time in four home games and dropped to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the GAC.

Oklahoma Baptist led for much of the first half and took a 29-23 advantage on Chandler Rickey's jumper with 4:44 left in the half. Harding answered with a 15-2 run over the next three minutes to take a 38-31 lead. The run included two 3-pointers from Stefan Andelkovic and another from Medjo.

Harding led 38-33 at halftime. Oklahoma Baptist closed to within two points three times early in the second half, but a 10-0 run gave Harding a 52-40 lead with 13:57 left. Harding led by at least six until late in the game when Rickey made two free throws to cut Harding's lead to 72-68.

Harding made 9-of-10 free throws down the stretch, including 6-of-6 by Medjo, to seal the victory.

Medjo, whose previous high this season was 15 points against Northern State, made 8-of-11 from the field and all six free throws. Andelkovic made four 3-pointers and scored 21. Tim Wagner scored 14 points, and Braden Eggleston had 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Rickey led Oklahoma Baptist with 21 points and 11 rebounds and added five blocked shots. Steven Green had 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Harding shot 53 percent from the field, its third game this season over 50 percent.

Harding plays its final non-conference game on Thursday in Searcy against LeMoyne-Owen College of Memphis.
