Harding Women's Tennis Falls Just Short of Upsetting No. 10 Southwest Baptist

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Harding women's tennis team nearly pulled off the biggest upset of the season in NCAA Division II tennis Friday before falling 5-4 to 10th-ranked Southwest Baptist.

Harding led 2-1 after doubles with Gabriella Alves and Brittany Smyser defeating the 10th-ranked doubles team in the Central Region, Southwest Baptist's Klara Vickov and Lani Tuemmers. Arielle Butler and Emily Faulkner also won at No. 3 doubles.

Butler also recorded Harding's only straight-sets victory in singles, winning 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5. Freshman Lexi Beaver won in three sets at No. 6.
