Harding Women's Tennis Scores Comeback Victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Ark. - Trailing by two points with three matches ongoing, Harding women's tennis rallied to defeat Arkansas-Fort Smith 5-4 on Wednesday at the Fort Smith Athletic Club.

Arkansas-Fort Smith led 4-2, and Harding needed to win each of the three remaining matches. Freshman Lexi Beaver won 6-4, 7-6 at No. 6 to pull Harding within 4-3. Sophomore Brittany Smyser tied it 4-4 with a 7-6, 6-4 win at No.4, and sophomore Gabriella Alves won it for the Lady Bisons with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 3.

Harding improved to 3-3 overall, 2-1 against NCAA Division II teams and 2-1 in regional matches. Arkansas-Fort Smith, who defeated Harding 9-0 last season, fell to 1-4.

Arielle Butler and Emily Faulkner gave Harding its only point in doubles, winning 8-6 for their fourth consecutive victory together.

Laura Golubic earned the Lady Bisons' first singles point with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 2.
