Harding Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight, Downs UAFS 6-3

SEARCY – Harding won its third match in three days with a 6-3 victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Thursday in a non-conference women's tennis match.

The Lady Bisons improved to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in regionally matches. Arkansas-Fort Smith, ranked ninth in the South Central Region, lost its ninth straight and fell to 1-9.

Harding won two of the three doubles matches, earning victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Arielle Butler and Emily Faulkner won first at No. 3 for their team-leading eighth doubles victory of the season. Piper Huey and Laura Golubic came from behind to win 8-6 at No. 1 and give Harding a 2-1 lead entering singles.

Arkansas-Fort Smith took the lead by winning the first two singles matches at No. 3 and No. 4. Harding pulled even at 3-3 with Emily Faulkner's 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6. It was her third consecutive win.

Golubic won her fifth straight match and her third consecutive three-set match at No. 2. She won 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 to clinch the match for Harding. Huey captured Harding's sixth point at No. 1 when Arkansas-Fort Smith's Brittaney McCasin retired in the third set with an injury.

Harding's women look for their fourth straight victory Saturday against Northwest Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri.
