Harding Women's Tennis Defeats Henderson State 5-3 in GAC Tournament Quarterfinals

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – No. 5 seed Harding women's tennis won two of three doubles matches and added three singles wins to defeat No. 4 seed Henderson State, 5-3, on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Great American Conference Tennis Tournament at Memorial Park Tennis Center.

Harding, now 12-8 on the season, advances to meet No. 1 seed Southeastern Oklahoma on Friday at 2 p.m. in the semifinals.

After Henderson State (6-10) won the first doubles match at No. 2, Harding answered with victories by Laura Golubic and Piper Huey at No. 1 (8-6) and Gabriella Alves and Brittany Smyser at No. 3 (8-5).

Harding made it 3-1 with Gulubic's 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Henderson State won at No. 3 singles to cut Harding's lead to 3-2, and a Reddie victory at No. 1 tied the match.

The Lady Bisons collected their fourth point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory by Emily Faulkner at No. 6, and junior Arielle Butler clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5.
