Ty Powell Retires from NFL

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Eagles linebacker and former Harding University Bison Ty Powell has elected to no longer play football.

Powell was placed on the reserve/retired list by the Eagles on Thursday, just three weeks after signing with the team.

Powell was a seventh-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2013. After spending time on practice squads with Seattle and the New York Giants, Powell was signed to the Buffalo Bills active roster in October. He appeared in 19 games with Buffalo over two seasons and recorded 23 tackles and a sack.

Powell missed all of the 2015 season due to a torn ACL. He was non-tendered by Buffalo in March and become an unrestricted free agent.

Powell played two seasons at Harding in 2011 and 2012 after transferring from DeAnza College in California. In his two seasons with the Bisons, he recorded 47 tackles, 10.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and four blocked kicks.
